How It Works
Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners to gradually straighten teeth. Treatment cost depends on the number of aligners needed. Comprehensive plans include unlimited refinements.
The Formula
Total = Tier Base Price x Provider Multiplier + Retainer
Your Cost = Total - Insurance Benefit
Monthly = Your Cost / Duration
Your Cost = Total - Insurance Benefit
Monthly = Your Cost / Duration
Variables
- Tier — Express $2,800, Lite $4,000, Moderate $4,500, Comprehensive $5,750 avg
- Provider — Orthodontists may charge 5% more but have more expertise
- Retainer — Vivera retainers cost $400 if not included
Example
Invisalign Comprehensive from an orthodontist: $5,750 x 1.05 = $6,038. Add $400 retainers = $6,438. With $1,500 insurance, you pay $4,938.
Tips
- Invisalign Comprehensive includes free refinements - often the best value
- You must wear aligners 20-22 hours/day for results
- Some offices price-match braces to Invisalign or offer similar pricing
- Byte and SmileDirect are cheaper ($1,895-$2,295) but have no in-person supervision
- Insurance covers Invisalign the same as braces in most plans
